Plans for a major revamp at Cannock Chase leisure centre
More than £700,000 is being invested in Rugeley's Leisure Centre in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire.
The new Profiles Health and Fitness Suite at Rugeley Leisure Centre will see an extension of 130sq m (1,399sq ft) to the current gym, creating a total floor space of 379sq m (4,080sq ft).
More than 70 stations of Technogym Wellness equipment has been installed - iPod docking stations and integrated TV screens – as well as vibration training stations, core and stability equipment and a free weights area.
It's the third phase of a £2m investment programme by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT), which was awarded a 10-year contract to manage leisure and cultural services on behalf of Cannock Chase District Council.
The renovations are expected to be completed by the start of June this year.
It follows a £400,000 investment in a new Profiles Health and Fitness Suite at Chase Leisure Centre, which opened in February 2012, and the £100,000 that was invested in a new 3G artificial turf pitch at the centre last year.
Councillor Christine Mitchell, Cannock Chase Council said: "Cannock Chase Council is committed to delivering the best sport and leisure facilities for people in Cannock Chase and our partnership with charitable trust WLCT will deliver £2 million of improvements for the District's leisure and culture facilities over the next 10 years.
"The Profiles Health and Fitness Suite at Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock has been hugely popular and we're delighted that work has now started to provide similar state-of-the-art facilities for the residents of Rugeley."
