4D effects theatre planned for Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor theme park in Staffordshire, UK, is to open a 4D effects theatre at the beginning of the 2009 season.
Supplied by Simworx, the theatre, which will be housed in an existing building at the park, offers 3D imagery alongside special effects lighting and Simworx's Dimensions 4D effects seats.
As well as moving seats, further effects include water spray, air blast, leg ticklers, aroma, low smoke and bubbles.
“We wanted a really good, indoor, family attraction,” said Drayton Manor’s Edward Pawley, general manager park operations, “and felt a 4D effects theatre would be ideal. It also allows us to increase the capacity of the existing building we are using for the attraction which was another consideration. We should be able to put over 600 people an hour through the theatre.”
Installation of the 152-seat theatre is scheduled to start at the beginning of next year.
