Aquaterra raises £32,000 for Swimathon 2012

287 swimmers who participated in Swimathon 2012 at two pools in Islington, London, and four in Bath and North East Somerset have raised an impressive £32,102 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sport Relief.
Highbury Pool alone raised over £11,500, taking it to 7th position in the London region and 10th position in the UK. Bath Sports & Leisure Centre, Keynsham Leisure Centre and South Wansdyke Sports Centre achieved 6th, 8th and 10th positions respectively in the South West region.
Antony Kildare, Chief Executive of Aquaterra Leisure commented:
"It's superb that so much money has been raised and it's all thanks to the hard work and dedication of customers and staff. We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who participated in this event!"
The Swimathon Weekend in April 2012 celebrated its 25th Anniversary and joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC's Big Splash, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sport Relief. The Swimathon Weekend gave over 26,000 swimmers the opportunity to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care through Swimathon's established Distance Challenges and for Sport Relief through the new 'Big Splash Mile'. Over £2.3million has been raised.
Swimmers at Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre were also treated to a special guest appearance on Saturday 28th April by Olympic gold medalist and London 2012 Ambassador Duncan Goodhew, plus BBC Radio 5 live to kick-start this year's Swimathon event.
Swimathon 2013 will be held from 26-28 April 2013.
