Bhutan yoga and wellbeing retreat opens
COMO hotels and resorts group has fully opened the Uma Paro hotel and spa in Bhutan.
Located on a 38-acre site near to the town of Paro, the hotel boasts 20 rooms and nine villas.
Uma Paro’s chef, Stana Johnson, previously worked at Cocoa Island in the Maldives and intends to provide a variety of modern and light cuisine which will in part revive traditional Bhutanese dishes.
A substantial retreat has also been developed at Uma Paro, designed for guests seeking greater health and wellbeing through a variety of Asian-inspired treatments and exercise.
A yoga room overlooks the Paro Valley, which can be opened up to catch mountain breezes. There is also a spa pool and an indoor pool with an outdoor sundeck.
A 90sq m (969sq ft) hot stone bath house, which includes a private massage room for couples, is located in the nearby pine forest, alongside a small juice bar.
Treatments and therapies available range from facials and massages to specific body treatments with a particular emphasis on the Ayurveda tradition.
Yoga tuition will also be available for all levels of ability and guests can choose to take part in dedicated Yoga Weeks, which will be led by a variety of international teachers.
