Changes to REPs registration status
With the development of level 4 and some additional categories being added at level 2, the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) has updated its qualification and career framework.
This helps to identify the status and position of members and gives some career information for progression and development.
Later this year an interactive version of the chart will be available through the REPs website which will give job descriptions, expected rates of pay for the different levels and categories and links to approved training providers.
A new level of entry has been created called “student member”. This will now apply to the two following groups:
• Previously registered level 1 assistant instructors. This term/title is confusing to the public as they are not yet qualified to instruct. Student member will now apply to new recruits who are in employment and who are working towards a minimum of a level 2 qualification.
• Students in further or higher education on programmes which have an exercise and fitness qualification outcome.
Student members will be issued with a membership card but not a certificate of registration. They will enjoy all other benefits of membership but will not be able to hold liability insurance or to vote on REPs Council issues.
