Lincs Inspire to launch scheme to get over 55s active
Lincs Inspire is introducing a wellness scheme targeting over 55s or anyone with an ongoing health condition to help them improve both physical and mental wellbeing.
The registered charity, which runs leisure, sporting, cultural and learning services in and around north east Lincolnshire, will be launching Active Forever at Grimsby Leisure Centre next week (25 January).
The scheme will offer individually designed support for users, with activities including Tai Chi, walking netball and chair-based exercises.
Sue Wells, Lincs Inspire chief executive officer, said: “We’re very excited to be launching our new wellness scheme, Active Forever. We want 2017 to be a year for getting active, not just thinking about it.
“We are proud to be working with our local health colleagues who specialise in a wide range of conditions, their knowledge and advice has helped to develop this programme and we are very grateful too for the training they have delivered to our staff which is so important for both user and staff confidence.”
The launch of the scheme will coincide with the unveiling of the refurbished Toning Suite at the leisure centre. The suite is home to 14 specially designed toning stations, all of which offer a relaxing, gentle form of exercise, ideal for rehabilitation, those not used to exercise, or those living with a long-term illness or medical condition.
