Chinese park heats up with new Holovis immersive theatre attraction
Designed and delivered by Holovis Attractions, a 200-seat immersive theatre will open in China’s Hot-Go theme park by the end of 2015.
Holovis says it is a complete turnkey solution that will feature the latest in 4D technology, providing a fully immersive 180° setup that ensures no seat position will have an inferior experience.
A full 4D suite of effects, including motion seat systems, spatial audio, SFX and a “uniquely developed all-immersive” 3D film from the Holovis Media team, will also feature. A selection of different stories will be available to help keep the ride fresh.
In addition, five DLP laser projectors from Digital Projection are being utilised to create the 180° ultra-high-resolution image. These units have no lamps to be replaced, giving them a longer lifespan and a more reliable light source, according to the company, negating lamp costs and re-alignment issues.
“Today theme parks have to compete with the high levels of technology and immersion that our guests have available to them in their homes and therefore we have to be able to offer something unique and on a different scale and sensory level, using the very latest technology,” said Qiang Wei, head of procurement at Hot-Go, of the new attraction.
“Guests want to be transported to virtual worlds where they can really believe in the story presented around them and make them feel they are part of the experience and within it, instead of passively watching from the outside in.”
Construction of the theatre will get underway in July and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2015.
