Design contest for Aberdeen square project
A new two-stage international design competition has started for the City Garden Project in Aberdeen, which aims to transform an area of the city centre into a new open space.
Malcolm Reading Consulting is managing the contest on behalf of Aberdeen City Gardens Trust Enterprises, with the first stage inviting design teams to submit proposals. It is hoped that a shortlist of up to seven proposals for the £140m scheme will be unveiled in July, with a winning entry to be announced in mid-December.
The City Garden Project will see the 19th century Union Terrace Gardens raised to cover a dual carriageway and railway line, while also complementing a new arts centre. Initial responses are due to be submitted by 13 June. Details: malcolmreading.co.uk
