British teenagers are putting their health at risk by piling on the pounds according to the British Medical Journal.
The study of 11 to 16-year-olds showed that average waistlines have grown by more than two inches in the last 20 years.
In 1997, 28 per cent of boys and 38 per cent of girls were defined as overweight, compared with nine per cent in 1977.
