Property developer The Resort Group has signed a management agreement with Hilton Worldwide to open a new-build hotel called Hilton Praia on Santiago Island, Cabo Verde, Africa.
The 201-bedroom 15-storey hotel will feature leisure facilities including a fitness area and spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Details of the spa have not yet been revealed.
Expected to open in 2018, the site will host more than 700sq m (7,535sq ft) of business and events space.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior VP of development for Hilton's Europe and Africa presence, said: “Benefiting from a rich visitor offering and progressive business environment, Cabo Verde is developing its reputation as a place to visit for both corporate and leisure purposes.”
He added that Cabo Verde is a strategically important trading location for Africa, Europe and the Americas.
The Resort Group, which specialises in developing five-star beachfront hotels and resorts, recently opened its second resort in Cabo Verde – Mélia Dunas Beach Resort & Spa, situated on Sal Island. A third resort on Sal, Llana Beach Hotel, is also under construction.
