Luminar names new chief executive
Nightclub operator Luminar has confirmed that Simon Douglas is set to join the company as its new chief executive after Stephen Thomas announced his retirement.
The group, which owns the Liquid and Oceana chains, revealed that Thomas will remain with the company until the end of July to ensure a "smooth transition" to Douglas, who will join on 8 March. Thomas, who founded Luminar in 1987 and has held the position of chief executive since then, will step down from the board of directors at the end of February.
Luminar chair Alan Jackson said: "Stephen has pioneered many of the modern operating trends now prevalent in the industry. He leaves us a great asset base and a strong, experienced and loyal team of people. We would like to thank him for his outstanding dedication to the company and for committing to a well-planned handover."
