Museum of Liverpool to open next week
The new £72m Museum of Liverpool - one of the largest museums to be created in the UK for more than 100 years - is to officially open its doors on 19 July.
National Museums Liverpool (NML) revealed that Mossley Hill schoolboy Finn O'Hare is to cut the ribbon to the new attraction, after putting himself forward in a letter to bosses. Part-funded by the Northwest Regional Development Authority, four core themes will be at the heart of the Museum of Liverpool and will explore the city's history and people.
The Heritage Lottery Fund also helped fund the project, which was designed by Denmark-based architects 3xN. Each core theme will be housed within its own large gallery area.
