Nepal looks to boost tourism
An Australian tourism company is helping the Government of Nepal to boost visits to the South Asian country.
According to the Nepalese newspaper Republica, the Sydney-based company Global Tourism & Leisure has submitted a proposal to the government to conduct a Tourism Development Scoping Study in order to develop a tourism master plan.
The company will also help the government promote its Nepal Tourism Year 2011 globally.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency and AusAid would help provide infrastructure funding to help promote village-based cultural tourism, and the firm has proposed trade missions and road shows in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan to rebrand the tourism image.
