New GAA Academy for Jordanstown
A new GAA Academy - part of the University of Ulster's £20m Sports Institute Facility at Jordanstown - has been opened by Northern Ireland deputy first minister Martin McGuinness.
The new academy offers residential accommodation, training facilities, physiotherapy and lifestyle management courses in a bid to support and promote the sport at all levels. Ulster GAA Council, GAA County Boards, private businesses and alumni have worked in partnership to deliver the facility, along with main sponsor John Sisk and Son.
McGuinness said: "This academy will provide the most advanced facilities not just for the cream of GAA talent. It will also promote the sport at all levels through coaching for local schools, both on and off campus."
