VisitBritain mission to boost visitors from Asia-Pacific
VisitBritain is to host Destination Britain at the Sheraton Perdana in Langkawi, Malaysia on 12-15 September this year.
The initiative is designed to be a meeting forum where the organisation and its partners can meet with travel and tourism representatives from Asia-Pacific.
Buyers from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand will all be present, to learn about the best accommodation, attractions and tours available for their clients when visiting Britain.
Over 1.9 million people from the Asia-Pacific region visit Britain each year, spending more than £1.6bn.
Tom Wright, chief executive of VisitBritain, said: “This is a superb opportunity for Britain’s tourism industry to increase business from key Asia-Pacific countries.
“In 2003, spending in Britain by Chinese, Malaysian, South Korean and Taiwanese visitors together rose by about 40 per cent and with the Japanese Tourism Bureau forecasting a 7 per cent rise in outbound travel over the summer, there has never been a better time to strengthen our links with tour operators to remind them of all that makes Britain a world-class destination.”
