Work starts on Edinburgh sports pavilion
Construction work is now underway on a £1m scheme to deliver a new and improved sports pavilion at Edinburgh's Collinton Mains Park, which is due for completion early next year.
The City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) is contributing £670,000 towards the scheme, while a £330,000 award from sportscotland will meet the remaining cost. It forms part of the local authority's wider plan to improve local sports pitches and pavilions across the city, with £490,000 to be invested in facilities over the next three years.
CEC sports leader Deidre Brock said: "[This scheme] is a key milestone in our ongoing programme of investment and I know the local community and sports clubs share our excitement about the development. "New fit-for-purpose pitches and sports facilities will be integral to helping us fulfil our ambition of making Edinburgh the most physically active city in Europe by 2020."
