£2m Cricket Club stand is complete
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club has welcomed the completion of its new Fox Road stand in time to host the NatWest One-Day International between England and Sri Lanka.
The stand, which will seat 2,300, cost just under £2m, and boosts the stadium's chances of maintaining test-host status.
The facility has been designed by Nottingham-based architects Maber Associates, and was built by Clegg Construction.
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club chief executive David Collier welcomed the opening, labelling it 'a magnificent addition to the excellent facilities provided at Trent Bridge.'
The stand was built subject to some demanding challenges, including difficulties with the land ownership, and available space. The result is a structure which is raised three metres, to allow maximum car parking capacity.
Huw Evans, of Maber Associates said, 'The unusual site constraint means the stand is designed on different structural principles, but by adopting an innovative design solution, we've enabled the club to meet its capacity target, and complete the enclosure of this most intimate of test match venues.'
